내 혼을 회복시키시며
‘회복시키다’는 ‘되돌리다’라는 뜻입니다. 영어로 ‘turn back’에 해당하며, 본래 자리로 돌아가게 하다라는 의미가 담겨 있습니다.
양들은 때로 길을 잃기도 합니다. 이때 양은 맹수에게 노출되어 큰 위험에 처하게 됩니다. 길을 잃은 양은 두려움 속에서 울부짖을 수밖에 없고, 상처 입었을 때는 치명적인 위기에 놓이게 됩니다. 심지어 양은 스스로의 불안정함 때문에 뒤집어지기도 합니다. 이때 양은 제 힘으로 일어서려고 발버둥치지만, 자기 힘만으로는 다시 서기 어렵습니다. 시간이 지나면 몸 안에 가스가 차서 결국 죽음에 이르게 됩니다. 이 위태로운 순간, 목자는 양을 굴려서 제 위치로 돌아가도록 도와줍니다.
우리의 신앙 여정도 이와 같습니다. 때로 우리는 삶의 방향을 잃고 불안해질 때가 있습니다. 육신과 마음의 상처로 인해 절망하여 더 나아가지 못할 때가 있습니다. 또 죄의 유혹에 빠져 벗어나고자 몸부림치지만, 자신의 힘만으로는 그 굴레를 벗어나기 어려울 때가 있습니다. 이때 우리의 참된 목자이신 주님께서 오셔서 우리를 소생시켜 주십니다. 우리를 우리 힘으로는 닿을 수 없는 회복의 자리로 되돌리시는 주님의 은혜가 바로 여기에 있습니다.
의의 길로 나를 인도하시는도다
주님은 우리를 회복시키신 후 방황했던 길에서 다시 나아갈 수 있도록 인도해 주십니다. 특히, 주님께서 이끄시는 길은 하나님의 의가 드러나는 길입니다. ‘의’는 하나님의 뜻이요, 하나님께서 원하시는 바입니다. 주님은 우리를 자신의 계획과 목적이 담긴 길로 인도하십니다.
자신의 이름을 위하여
주님은 우리의 공로를 위해 이 일을 하시는 것이 아닙니다. 주님은 자신의 이름을 위하여, 자신의 명예를 위해 우리를 회복시키고 이끌어 주십니다. 이 모든 것이 은혜로 이루어지며, 우리의 힘이 아닌 주님의 은혜로 의의 길로 나아가게 되는 것입니다.
돌아보며, 생각해 봅시다
우리는 얼마나 자주 길을 잃고 헤매고 있나요? 얼마나 지쳐서 주저앉고, 절망 가운데 울고 있었나요? 또 얼마나 자주 죄의 유혹 속에서 벗어나지 못한 채 스스로를 탓했던가요? 그 모든 순간에 주님께서 우리를 붙들고 일으켜 주셨습니다. 부족하고 연약한 자를 은혜로 소생시키시고, 주님의 뜻 안에서 살아가도록 인도하시는 참된 목자이신 주님께 감사와 찬양을 드립니다. 이 주님은 우리의 참된 인도자가 되십니다
He Restores My Soul
The term "restore" means "to turn back” to bring something back to its original place.
Sometimes sheep lose their way and are exposed to danger, becoming easy prey for wild animals. Lost sheep cry out in fear, and when they are injured, the situation becomes even more critical. Sheep can even end up on their backs due to their own unsteadiness. In this state, they struggle desperately to stand again, but it’s nearly impossible by their own strength. If they stay like this, gas builds up in their body, and ultimately, they could die. In this dangerous moment, the shepherd rolls the sheep over and helps it get back on its feet.
Our journey of faith is quite similar. At times, we may lose our sense of direction and feel anxious. Physical or emotional wounds can leave us feeling too discouraged to move forward. Sometimes, we become entangled in temptation, trying desperately to escape, but we find ourselves unable to break free by our own strength. In those moments, our true Shepherd, the Lord, comes to restore our souls. He turns us back to a place of healing that we cannot reach by ourselves—this is the grace of the Lord.
He Leads Me in Paths of Righteousness
After restoring us, the Lord leads us back from our wandering to move forward on the right path. Specifically, the path the Lord leads us on is one of righteousness. "Righteousness" here refers to God's will and purpose. The Lord guides us on a path that reveals His righteousness and fulfills His purpose.
For His Name’s Sake
The Lord does not do this for our merit or worth; He does it for His own name’s sake and for His glory. All of this is accomplished through His grace alone, allowing us to walk the path of righteousness—not by our strength, but by His mercy.
Reflect on This:
How often have we wandered and lost our way? How many times have we collapsed in exhaustion and despair? How many times have we been caught in the pull of sin, unable to escape on our own? In all those times, the Lord lifted us up and restored us. Our Shepherd, who raises the fallen and guides us to live within His will, is always with us.
