시의 배경

백성들의 간구(1~5)
고난의 때에
"고난의 날에 주께서 네 말을 들으시고, 야곱의 하나님의 이름이 너를 보호하시기를 기도합니다".
이는 창세기에서 야곱의 서원이 떠오르게 합니다. 고난의 순간에 야곱의 하나님께서 벧엘과 얍복강에서 그를 보호하신 장면이 떠오릅니다.
영적인 보호
성소, 시온, 헌물 등의 단어는 이스라엘의 예배와 관련된 상징들입니다. 시온은 예루살렘 성소가 있는 시온 산을 의미합니다. 백성들은 전쟁에 출전하는 왕이 하나님 앞에서 먼저 바르게 서 있기를 간구합니다.
전투에서 보호
"그분께서 네 마음의 소원대로 허락하시고, 네 모든 계획을 이루어 주시기를 원하노라."
백성들은 왕이 전투에서 보호받고, 그의 모든 계획이 이루어지기를 간구합니다.
모두 함께 부르는 승리의 찬가
"우리가 네 구원을 기뻐하며 우리 하나님의 이름으로 우리의 깃발을 세우리니, 주께서 네 모든 청원을 이루어 주시기를 원하노라."

택하신 자들의 기도에 응답해 주시는 하나님
"주께서 자신의 기름 부음 받은 자를 구원하시는 줄 이제 내가 아노니, 그분께서 자신의 거룩한 하늘로부터 자신의 오른손의 구원하는 능력으로 그의 말을 들으시리로다."
하나님의 이름을 신뢰하는 자의 자신감
"어떤 자들은 병거를 신뢰하며, 어떤 자들은 말을 신뢰하나 우리는 주 우리 하나님의 이름을 기억하리로다."
사람들은 병거와 말을 신뢰하지만, 왕은 오직 하나님의 이름을 기억하고 그 안에서 힘을 얻습니다.
왕이신 하나님께 간구
왕의 책무는 전쟁에서 승리해 백성을 보호하고, 공정한 재판을 하는 것입니다. 다윗은 왕으로서 이 책임을 잘 알고 있으며, 또한 하나님께 백성의 구원을 간구합니다.
이 시의 아름다움은 여호와 하나님 안에서 백성과 다윗이 하나 되어 있다는 사실입니다. 백성들은 왕을 위해 기도하고, 왕은 하나님의 보호하심을 확신하며 기도합니다.

Background of the Psalm
This psalm can be divided into two parts. The first part is the prayer of the people for the king who goes to war (verses 1-5), and the second part is the prayer of the king to the Lord, the King greater than himself.

The People's Plea (1-5)
In Times of Trouble
"“The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;”.
This brings to mind the vow of Jacob in Genesis. In moments of trouble, the God of Jacob protected him at Bethel and by the Jabbok River.
Spiritual Protection
Words like “sanctuary,” “Zion,” and “offerings” are symbols related to Israel’s worship. Zion refers to Mount Zion, where the sanctuary of Jerusalem is located. The people pray that the king, who goes to battle, stands rightly before God first.
Protection in Battle
“Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel”
The people pray for the king’s protection in battle and for all his plans to be fulfilled.
The Victory Song Sung Together
“We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions”
The Prayer to the King (6-9)
God Who Responds to the Prayers of His Chosen Ones
“Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand”
Confidence in Those Who Trust in God's Name
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God”
People trust in chariots and horses, but the king remembers and draws strength from the name of the Lord.
The Prayer to the King
The duty of the king is to win battles to protect his people and to carry out fair judgments. David, as a king, understands this responsibility well, and he prays to God for the salvation of his people.
The beauty of this psalm is that the people and David are united in the Lord. The people pray for the king, and the king prays with confidence in God’s protection.
In our lives, we face countless spiritual battles, and like Jacob, we have no choice but to pray. Families pray for the head of the household, and the head trusts in God as they go to battle. The church prays for its leaders, and the leaders fight spiritual battles to protect the congregation. A family and church united like this become strong and will raise the banner of victory given by God.
