시인이 겪는 고통
의인들의 사라짐(1)
(스미기에 맞추어 악장에게 준 다윗의 시) {주}여, 도우소서. 하나님을 따르는 사람이 끊어지고 신실한 자들이 사람들의 자녀들 가운데서 없어지나이다(1)
“의인들이 끊어진다” ‘사라진다’ 의미입니다.
“없어지나이다”의 의미는 ‘중지되다’, ‘끝나다’, ‘마치다’의 의미입니다.
의인들이 ‘사라지고’, ‘끊어진” 이유를 알 수는 없습니다.
악한 자들의 득세 속에 동화되어 갔는 지, 아니면 그들의 음모로 인해 해를 당했는 지를 알 수 없습니다.
분명한 것은 시인은 의인들의 사라짐과 끊어짐에 애통해하고 있습니다.
함께 의를 말하고, 의를 위해 행동할 사람들이 없어지는 것은 시인에게 슬픈 일입니다.
교만한 입술로 모함을 받음(3~4)
{주}께서 아첨하는 모든 입술과 교만한 것들을 말하는 혀를 끊으시리니(3)
그들이 말하기를, 우리가 우리 혀로 이기리라. 우리 입술은 우리 것이니 누가 우리를 주관하리요? 하였도다(4).
“이기리라”는 ‘영향을 미치다’, ‘더 우세하다’는 의미입니다.
악한 자들의 최고의 계략은 ‘거짓”의 퍼뜨리는 것입니다.
그들의 자신감은 혀에서 나옵니다.
혀는 모든 것을 무너뜨리는 필살의 무기입니다.
‘아첨’하는 말과 ‘모함’으로 의인을 무너뜨릴 수 있습니다.
다윗에게는 힘과 용기, 그리고 무력이 있었습니다.
그들은 감히 다윗에게 정면으로 승부할 수 없습니다.
그들은 뒤에서 거짓을 퍼뜨려 여론을 호도하여 의인을 이길 수 있다는 자신감에 충만합니다.
사방에 가장 비열한 자들이 활보(8)
가장 비열한 자들이 높여질 때에는 사악한 자들이 사방에서 활보하는도다(8).
의인이 높임을 받아야 마땅한 사회가 오히려 가장 비열한 자들이 높임을 받고 있습니다.
그들은 거드름을 피우며 거리를 활보하고 있습니다.
시인의 믿음:
{주}께서 말씀하시기를, 가난한 자의 학대받는 것과 궁핍한 자의 탄식하는 것으로 인하여 이제 내가 일어나 그를 향해 우쭐대는 자로부터 그를 떼 내어 안전하게 두리라, 하시는도다(5).
시인은 하나님의 말씀을 신뢰합니다.
어떤 상황에도 하나님의 말씀을 붙들고 있습니다.
시인이 이렇게 말씀을 붙들 수 있는 근거는 무엇입니까?
{주}의 말씀들은 순수한 말씀들이니 흙 도가니에서 정제하여 일곱 번 순수하게 만든 은 같도다(6).
주의 말씀은 일곱 번 정제된 은과 같기 때문입니다.
일곱은 완전 수입니다.
하나님의 말씀은 수도 없이 test를 받았습니다.
의인들이 말씀을 붙들고 인내할 때, 한 번도 실망시키지 않았습니다.
주님의 말씀은 반드시 성취됩니다.
시인은 말씀을 신뢰합니다.
시인의 삶의 여정에서 하나님의 말씀은 늘 일곱 번 정제된 은처럼 반드시 시인의 삶에 성취되었습니다.
시인의 앞서 수많은 의인들에게도 동일하게 성취되었습니다.
그러므로, 하나님의 말씀은 신뢰할 수 있는 유일한 것입니다.
오 {주}여, 주께서 그것들을 지키시며 주께서 그것들을 이 세대로부터 영원히 보존하시리이다(7).
6절에서 “말씀들은” 여성형입니다.
7절에서 “그것들은” 남성형입니다.
그러므로, 바른 번역은 “그것들을” ‘그들로’ 번역하는 것이 더 타당합니다.
말씀이 아닌, 의인들을 영원히 보호해 주실 것이라는 의미로 해석하는 것이 더 좋을 것 같습니다.
시대가 악해질수록 사악한 자들이 득세합니다.
시대의 종말에는 악의 세력이 베일을 벗을 것입니다.
그 사악한 자가 오는 것은 사탄의 활동을 따라 모든 권능과 표적들과 거짓 이적들과 불의의 모든 속임수와 함께 멸망하는 자들에게로 오는 것이니 이는 그들이 진리의 사랑을 받아들이지 아니하여 구원을 받지 못하였기 때문이라(데후2:9~10).
이런 의미에서 시편 12편은 다윗에게만 해당되는 상황이 아닙니다.
모든 세대, 특별히 말세지말의 때를 살고 있는 모든 그리스도인들에게도 해당되는 상황입니다.
이러한 때에 하나님의 말씀을 믿어야 합니다.
하나님은 말씀만이 우리가 유일하게 신뢰할 수 있습니다.
일곱 번 정제된 금처럼 오랜 세월 검증되었습니다.
잠시 악이 득세할지라도 하나님께서 결코 의인의 한탄과 눈물을 그냥 지나쳐 버리지 않기 때문입니다.

The Suffering Experienced by the Poet
Disappearance of the Righteous (1):
(A Psalm of David when the godly man ceaseth) Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men. (Psalm 12:1, King James Version)
The word "ceaseth" implies the ‘end’, or ‘complete’ of the righteous. The meaning of "fail" here is to ‘disappear’ or ‘vanish’. The reasons for the disappearance and cessation of the righteous are unclear. Whether they have been assimilated into the rise of the wicked or have suffered harm due to their plots is unknown. However, it's evident that the poet is distressed by the disappearance and cessation of the righteous. It's a sad occurrence for the poet when those who speak up for righteousness and act justly disappear.
Mockery Received through Proud Lips (3-4):
The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things: Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us? (Psalm 12:3-4, King James Version)
The term "prevail" means ‘to have influence’ or ‘to be superior’. The supreme strategy of the wicked is to spread falsehood. Their confidence comes from their tongues. The tongue is a weapon that can destroy everything. Flattering words and mockery can undermine the righteous.
David possessed strength, courage, and might. They dared not confront David head-on. Instead, they were full of confidence in spreading falsehoods from behind, deceiving public opinion to defeat the righteous.
The Wicked Parading Everywhere (8):
The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted. (Psalm 12:8, King James Version)
In a society where the righteous should be honored, it is the vilest individuals who are exalted. They strut around, causing trouble and stirring up strife.
The Poet's Faith:
The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (Psalm 12:6, King James Version)
The poet trusts in the words of God. Regardless of the circumstances, the poet clings to God's words. What is the basis for the poet to hold onto these words?
The words of the Lord are pure, like silver purified seven times in a furnace. Seven is a perfect number in hebrew. God's words have been tested countless times. They have never disappointed the righteous when they patiently held onto them. The Lord's words always come to fruition. The poet trusts in these words. Throughout the poet's journey in life, God's words have always been fulfilled, just like silver purified seven times. They have been fulfilled in the lives of countless righteous individuals before the poet. Therefore, God's words are the only thing that can be trusted.
O Lord, thou shalt keep them, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. (Psalm 12:7, King James Version)
The words in verse 6 is feminine. "Them" in verse 7 is masculine. A more accurate translation is to interpret it as meaning that the righteous will be preserved forever, rather than just the words.
As the times become more wicked, evil individuals will rise to power. At the end of the age, the forces of evil will be revealed.
For the wicked one shall come with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10, King James Version)
In this sense, Psalm 12 is not only relevant to David's situation but applies to all generations, especially to all Christians living in the end times. In such times, we must believe in God's word. God's word alone is what we can trust. Like gold refined seven times, it has been tested over many years. Even if evil temporarily gains the upper hand, God will never simply overlook the lament and tears of the righteous.
