1. 구원의 확신에 이르는 시간과 과정은 차이가 있음
This infallible assurance doth not so belong to the essence of faith, but that a true believer may wait long, and conflict with many difficulties, before he be partaker of it
이 구원에 대한 절대 확신은 구원의 본질에 반드시 속하는 것은 아니어서, 참된 신자라도 구원의 확신에 이르기까지 오랜 시간을 기다리거나, 많은 어려움과 갈등을 겪을 수 있습니다.
2. 구원의 확신은 말씀과 성령님의 깨닫게 하심을 통해 가능
yet, being enabled by the Spirit to know the things which are freely given him of God, he may, without extraordinary revelation, in the right use of ordinary means, attain thereunto
그러나 성령님의 도우심으로 하나님께서 그에게 주신 은혜들을 알게 되며, 특별한 계시 없이도, 이미 주어진 말씀과 수단을 바르게 사용함으로써 구원의 확신에 이를 수 있습니다.
3. 구원의 확신을 확인하려고 하는 것은 성도의 의무
And therefore it is the duty of everyone to give all diligence to make his calling and election sure
그러므로 자신의 부르심과 선택이 확실함을 확인하려고 힘쓰는 것은 모든 성도의 의무입니다.
4. 구원의 확신으로 인한 영적 열매
that thereby his heart may be enlarged in peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, in love and thankfulness to God, and in strength and cheerfulness in the duties of obedience, the proper fruits of this assurance: so far is it from inclining men to looseness
구원의 확신은 그로 인해 성령 안에서 마음이 평화와 기쁨으로 넓어지고, 하나님에 대한 사랑과 감사가 넘치며, 순종의 의무를 감당하는 데 힘과 활기를 줍니다. 이 구원의 확신은 오히려 사람을 느슨하게 만드는 것이 아니라, 합당한 영적 열매를 맺게 합니다.
