1. 교회의 직원들에게 맡겨진 권징

 

To these officers 이 직원들에게

the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven 하늘 왕국의 열쇠들이

are committed, 위임되었는데 

 

2. 교회의 직원들에 의해 행해지는 권징

 

by virtue whereof (그들이) 이 열쇠들을 사용하여

 

• they have power respectively to retain 죄인으로 여길 수 있으며
• and remit sins, 죄들을 용서할 수도 있고 
• to shut that kingdom against the impenitent, 회개치 않는 자에게 천국문을 닫기도 하며
• both by the word and censures; 말씀과 권징에 의해서
• and to open it unto penitent sinners, 회개한 죄인들에게 죄를사면해 주기도 하며  
• by the ministry of the gospel, 복음을 열어 주기도 한다.

 

and by absolution from censures, as occasion shall require.

그리고 각각의 경우들은 모두 권징의 절대성에 의해 행해진다.
