어디로 도망하고 있는가?,
사람은 위기가 오면 본능적으로 도망칩니다.
이것은 약함이 아니라, 살아남기 위한 자연스러운 반응입니다.
시편 11편도 바로 그 상황에서 시작됩니다.
“새같이 너희 산으로 도망하라”
이 말은 틀린 말이 아닙니다.
지금 상황은 실제로 위험합니다.

악인들이 활을 당기고 있고
-
의로운 자들이 표적이 되고 있으며
-
심지어 “기초들이 무너진” 상태입니다
이 정도면 도망치는 것이 당연합니다.
그래서 사람들은 말합니다.
“지금은 피하는 게 답이다”
그런데 여기서 중요한 변화가 일어납니다.
도망이 단순한 선택이 아니라
유일한 해결책이 되어버립니다
그리고 그 순간, 도망은 더 이상 중립적인 행동이 아닙니다. 신뢰를 대신하기 시작합니다
이때 다윗은 전혀 다른 말을 합니다.
“내가 주를 신뢰하거늘”
이 말의 히브리어는 “חָסִיתִי (하씨티)”입니다.
“나는 이미 피했다, 이미 숨었다”는 뜻입니다.
그런데 이 단어는 더 깊은 의미를 가지고 있습니다.
히브리어에서 이 단어는 단순히 “믿는다”가 아니라
“위치를 옮긴다”는 의미를 포함합니다
위험한 곳에서 안전한 곳으로,
밖에서 안으로,
노출된 자리에서 피난처 안으로 들어가는 것입니다.
그래서 다윗의 고백은 이런 뜻입니다:
“나는 하나님 안으로 들어갔다”
그래서 이 장면은 이렇게 이해해야 합니다.
다윗은 도망하지 않는 사람이 아닙니다
이미 도망을 끝낸 사람입니다
그런데 방향이 다릅니다.

사람들 → 산으로 위치 이동

다윗 → 하나님께 위치 이동
그렇다면 왜 산으로만 도망가면 안 되는 걸까요?
첫째,
산은 문제를 피하게 하지만 해결하지 못합니다.
산은 나를 숨겨줄 수는 있습니다.
하지만 악을 없애지는 못합니다.
그래서 결국 다시 내려와야 하고,
다시 두려움은 시작됩니다.
둘째,
도망이 하나님을 대체하기 시작합니다.
산에 숨으면 마음이 이렇게 말합니다.
“이 정도면 괜찮다”
그 순간 우리는
하나님 없이도 살 수 있다고 느끼기 시작합니다.
도망은 더 이상 수단이 아니라
하나님을 대신하는 안전장치가 됩니다.
셋째,
두려움이 삶의 기준이 됩니다.
도망이 중심이 되면
결정 기준이 바뀝니다.

무엇이 옳은가

무엇이 안전한가
다윗은 말합니다.
“여호와께서는 그의 거룩한 전에 계시며
그의 보좌는 하늘에 있도다”
세상은 무너지는 것 같지만
하나님의 보좌는 흔들리지 않습니다.
사람들은 상황을 보고 도망치지만
다윗은 보좌를 보고 하나님께 도망합니다.
이 시편은 우리에게 묻습니다.
“너는 지금 어디로 도망하고 있는가?”

산으로 도망하고 있는가

하나님께 도망하고 있는가
도망은 필요할 수 있습니다.
하지만 그것이 하나님을 대신하는 순간,
그것은 더 이상 피난처가 아니라 우상이 됩니다

나는 하나님보다 먼저 해결책을 찾고 있지는 않은가?

Where Are You Fleeing?
People instinctively run when a crisis comes.
This is not weakness—it is a natural response for survival.
Psalm 11 begins in exactly that kind of situation.
“Flee as a bird to your mountain.” (KJV)
This is not wrong.
The situation is genuinely dangerous.

The wicked are bending their bows
-
The righteous are being targeted
-
Even “the foundations are destroyed”
In such a moment, fleeing feels completely reasonable.
So people say:
“Running away is the answer right now.”
But here, something subtle yet important happens.
Fleeing is no longer just an option—
it becomes the only solution.
And at that moment, fleeing is no longer neutral.
It begins to replace trust.
At this point, David says something entirely different:
“In the LORD put I my trust.” (KJV)
The Hebrew word here is “chasiti” (חָסִיתִי).
It means:
“I have already fled. I have already taken refuge.”
But this word carries a deeper meaning.
In Hebrew, it does not simply mean “to believe.”
It includes the idea of movement—relocation.
It means moving:

From danger to safety
-
From outside to inside
-
From exposure into refuge
So David is not saying,
“I believe God is safe.”
He is saying,
“I have entered into God.”
So we must understand this moment correctly.
David is not someone who refuses to flee.
He is someone who has already finished fleeing.
But the direction is different.

People move toward the mountain
-
David moves toward God
Then why can’t we simply flee to the mountain?
First,
The mountain helps you avoid the problem, but it does not solve it.
It may hide you for a moment,
but it does not remove evil.
Eventually, you must come down again,
and fear returns.
Second,
Fleeing begins to replace God.
When you hide in the mountain, your heart says:
“This is enough.”
At that moment,
you begin to feel like you can live without God.
Fleeing is no longer a tool—
it becomes a substitute for God.
Third,
Fear becomes your standard for decision-making.
When fleeing becomes central, your criteria change:

What is right
-
What is safe
But David declares:
“The LORD is in his holy temple,
the LORD’S throne is in heaven.” (KJV)
The world may seem to be collapsing,
but God’s throne is not shaken.
People look at circumstances and flee,
but David looks at the throne and flees to God.
This psalm asks us a question:
“Where are you fleeing right now?”

Are you fleeing to the mountain?

Or are you fleeing to God?
Fleeing itself is not the problem.
But the moment it replaces God,
it is no longer a refuge—it becomes an idol.
