서론: 예배를 향한 거룩한 설렘

우리는 주일 아침, 어떤 마음으로 교회에 옵니까? 다윗은 고백합니다.

"사람이 내게 말하기를 여호와의 집에 올라가자 할 때에 내가 기뻐하였도다" (1절)

다윗에게 성전으로 가는 길은 단순한 의무나 습관적인 이동이 아니었습니다. 그것은 가슴 뛰는 '영적 순례'였습니다. 오늘 우리는 다윗의 고백을 통해, 혼자가 아닌 '함께' 예배드리는 기쁨이 무엇인지, 그리고 그 예배를 통해 우리가 회복해야 할 마음이 무엇인지 나누고자 합니다.

 

본론 1. 예배의 시작: '나'의 기쁨이 '우리'의 기쁨으로 (1-2절)

예배의 기쁨은 성전에 도착해서 시작되는 것이 아닙니다. 예배를 드리러 가자고 권유받는 순간, 집을 나서는 그 발걸음에서 이미 시작됩니다.

• 함께함의 즐거움: 다윗은 "내가 올라가자"가 아니라, "우리가 올라가자"라는 말에 기뻐했습니다. 참된 신앙은 독주가 아니라 합주입니다.

• 성문 안에 선 발: "우리 발이 네 성문 안에 섰도다" (2절)라는 고백은, 단순히 장소의 이동이 아니라 하나님의 임재가 있는 공동체 안으로 들어왔다는 감격입니다.

 

본론 2. 예배의 중심: 하나님의 통치를 확인하는 자리 (3-5절)

우리가 모이는 이곳(교회/성전)은 단순한 건물이 아닙니다. 다윗은 예루살렘 성전을 바라보며 하나님의 보좌를 떠올립니다.

• 연결된 공동체: 예루살렘은 "잘 짜인 성읍"(3절)과 같다고 했습니다. 이는 성도들이 서로 긴밀하게 연결되어 하나 됨을 의미합니다.

• 심판과 통치의 보좌: "심판의 보좌... 다윗의 집의 보좌"(5절)가 있다는 것은, 예배가 하나님의 공의와 통치를 확인하는 자리라는 뜻입니다. 세상의 기준이 아닌, 하나님의 말씀이 내 삶을 다스리게 하는 시간이 바로 예배입니다.

• 적용:

  • 예배를 통해 내 뜻을 관철하는 것이 아니라, 하나님의 통치(주권) 아래 무릎 꿇는 은혜를 구하십시오.

 

본론 3. 예배의 열매: 샬롬(평안)과 형통을 구하는 기도 (6-9절)

다윗은 예배의 감격을 누리는 데서 그치지 않고, 이제 적극적으로 공동체를 위해 축복합니다.

• 평안(Shalom)을 구하라: "예루살렘을 위하여 평안을 구하라"(6절). 여기서 평안은 단순한 안정이 아니라, 하나님 안에서의 온전함을 뜻합니다.

• 형통의 약속: 교회를 사랑하고, 공동체의 평안을 위해 기도하는 자에게 하나님은 '형통'을 약속하셨습니다. 나의 유익이 아닌 공동체의 유익을 구할 때, 하나님은 내 삶도 책임지십니다.

• 형제와 친구를 위하여: 다윗은 "내 형제와 친구를 위하여"(8절) 평안을 선포합니다. 예배의 마침표는 나만 은혜받고 끝나는 것이 아니라, 지체들을 축복하는 것으로 찍어야 합니다.

• 적용:

  • 오늘 예배 후, 곁에 있는 성도에게 "주님의 평안이 함께하기를 바랍니다"라고 진심으로 축복하십시오.

  • 교회의 평안이 곧 나의 형통임을 기억하고 교회를 위해 기도하십시오.

 

결론: 함께함이 복입니다

시편 122편은 순례자의 노래입니다. 고단한 인생길이지만, 성도들과 함께 손잡고 하나님의 집으로 올라가는 길에는 세상이 알지 못하는 기쁨이 있습니다.

1. 예배하러 오는 발걸음 자체를 기뻐하십시오.

2. 말씀 앞에서 하나님의 통치를 인정하십시오.

3. 형제와 자매를 위해 평안을 빌어주십시오.

다윗이 누렸던 이 벅찬 감격이, 오늘 함께 예배하는 우리 모두의 기쁨이 되기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

 

 

Introduction: Holy Excitement Toward Worship

With what heart do we come to church on Sunday mornings? David confesses:

"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD." (v. 1)

To David, the path to the temple was not a mere duty or a habitual routine. It was a heart-pounding 'spiritual pilgrimage.' Today, through David's confession, we wish to share what the joy of worshiping 'together'—not alone—truly is, and what heart we must restore through that worship.

 

Body I. The Beginning of Worship: From 'My' Joy to 'Our' Joy (vv. 1-2)

The joy of worship does not begin upon arriving at the temple. It begins the moment we are invited to go worship, in the very footsteps leaving our homes.

• The Joy of Togetherness: David rejoiced not at saying "I will go," but at the words "Let us go." True faith is not a solo performance but a symphony.

• Feet Standing Within the Gates:

  "Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem." (v. 2) This confession is not merely about a change of location, but the overwhelming emotion of entering into the community where God's presence dwells.

Body II. The Center of Worship: The Place of Confirming God's Reign (vv. 3-5)

This place where we gather (the church/temple) is not a mere building. Looking at the Jerusalem temple, David envisions God's throne.

• Connected Community: Jerusalem is described as "a city that is compact together" (v. 3). This signifies that the saints are closely knit and connected to one another in unity.

• Thrones of Judgment and Reign:

  "For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David." (v. 5) The presence of these thrones means that worship is the place where we confirm God's justice and rule. It is a time to let God's word, not worldly standards, rule over our lives.

• Application: Do not seek to enforce your own will through worship, but seek the grace to kneel under God's rule (sovereignty).

Body III. The Fruit of Worship: Prayer Seeking Shalom (Peace) and Prosperity (vv. 6-9)

David does not stop at enjoying the thrill of worship; he now actively blesses the community.

• Seek Peace (Shalom): "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem" (v. 6). Here, peace is not just stability, but wholeness in God.

• The Promise of Prosperity:

  "they shall prosper that love thee." (v. 6) To those who love the church and pray for the community's peace, God promises 'prosperity.' When we seek the community's benefit rather than our own, God takes responsibility for our lives as well.

• For Brethren and Companions: David proclaims peace "For my brethren and companions' sakes" (v. 8). The full stop of worship should not be placed after receiving grace alone, but after blessing our fellow members.

• Application:

  1. After worship today, sincerely bless the saint next to you, saying, "May the Lord's peace be with you."

  2. Remember that the church's peace is my prosperity, and pray for the church.

 

Conclusion: Being Together is a Blessing

Psalm 122 is a Song of Degrees (a pilgrim's song). Though life is a weary journey, there is a joy unknown to the world on the road up to God's house, holding hands with the saints.

1. Rejoice in the very footsteps coming to worship.

2. Acknowledge God's rule before His Word.

3. Pray for peace for your brothers and sisters.

May this overwhelming emotion that David enjoyed be the joy of all of us worshiping together today, in the name of the Lord.
