거짓을 대하는 바른 자세

 

우리가 살고 있는 시대는 진실과 거짓이 혼재된 영적 혼란의 시대입니다. 참 대언자 예레미야와 거짓 대언자 하나냐의 대결을 통해, 우리는 이 혼란 속에서 진리를 붙잡는 네 가지 바른 태도를 배울 수 있습니다.

1. 담대함: 진실을 피하지 않고 마주 서다

 

거짓이 가장 거룩한 모습으로 포장되어 나타날 때, 우리는 침묵하기 쉽습니다. 그러나 예레미야는 도망치거나 숨지 않고 공개적인 장소에서 담대하게 대응했습니다.

"대언자 예레미야가 {주}의 집에 서 있던 제사장들 앞과 모든 백성 앞에서 대언자 하나냐에게 말하니라." (예레미야 28:5)

2. 말씀 속에서 바르게 해석: 역사를 통해 기준을 세우다

 

예레미야는 개인적인 감정 대신, 성경적·역사적 기준을 통해 진실을 분별했습니다. 그는 평화 예언은 성취되어야만 참된 말씀임을 강조하며, 거짓을 검증할 명확한 기준을 제시했습니다.

"나와 너 이전에 옛적부터 있던 대언자들이 많은 나라들과 큰 왕국들을 향해 전쟁과 재앙과 역병에 대하여 대언하였느니라. 평화에 대하여 대언하는 대언자는 그 대언자의 말이 이루어질 때에야 비로소 그가 진실로 {주}께서 보내신 대언자임을 알게 되리라, 하니라." (예레미야 28:8-9)

하나냐의 거짓 예언은 두 달이라는 짧은 기간 만에 허망하게 끝났습니다. 이 극적인 대비는 우리에게 다음과 같은 교훈을 줍니다.

• 세상의 거짓 평안을 거부하십시오: 듣기 좋고 쉬운 성공만을 약속하는 메시지 대신, 회개와 정직한 길을 요구하는 진리의 말씀을 선택하십시오.

• 검증의 기준을 높이십시오: 영적 교훈을 접할 때, 감정이나 카리스마가 아닌 성경 전체의 가르침이라는 변하지 않는 기준을 통해 신중하게 검토해야 합니다.

• 인내하며 주님께 맡기십시오: 불의를 볼 때 인간적인 논쟁에 휘말리기보다, 예레미야처럼 하나님의 주권적인 심판의 때를 신뢰해야 합니다.

결론: 진리로 승리하는 삶

 

하나냐가 선포한 '평화'의 예언보다, 그를 향한 '죽음'의 심판이 훨씬 빨리 성취됨으로써 거짓의 허망함이 드러났습니다.

하나님은 그의 교회가 **사탄의 회(會)**와 같은 거짓된 집단으로부터 오는 박해를 겪을지라도, 그들의 거짓의 시험 앞에서 무너지지 않고 진리를 붙잡기를 원하십니다.

하나님께서 우리에게 주신 말씀의 멍에를 메고, 담대함과 인내를 가지고 진리로 승리하는 복된 삶을 살아가시기를 축원합니다.

The Right Stance Against Falsehood

 

We live in a time of spiritual confusion where truth and lies are intertwined, and where "what we want to hear" clashes with "what we need to hear." Through the confrontation between the true prophet Jeremiah and the false prophet Hananiah, we can learn four right attitudes to hold onto the truth amid this chaos.

1. Boldness: Facing the Truth Without Retreat

 

When falsehood is disguised and presented in the most sacred settings, it is easy for us to remain silent out of fear. But Jeremiah did not hide; he responded boldly in public view.

"Then the prophet Jeremiah spake unto Hananiah the prophet in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD," (Jeremiah 28:5, KJV)

2. Right Interpretation in the Word: Establishing Standards through History

 

Instead of arguing based on personal feelings, Jeremiah used scriptural and historical standards to discern truth from falsehood. He emphasized that a prophecy of peace must be fulfilled to be proven true, establishing a clear test for falsehood.

"The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence. The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him." (Jeremiah 28:8-9, KJV)

3. Non-Contention: Stepping Away from Human Quarrels

 

Even when Hananiah performed the highly provocative act of breaking Jeremiah's yoke, Jeremiah did not descend into an emotional fight.

"Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake it. . . . And the prophet Jeremiah went his way." (Jeremiah 28:10-11, KJV, adapted)

4. Awaiting God's Sovereign Act: Falsehood Exposed by Divine Judgment

 

When Jeremiah patiently waited, God Himself intervened to expose the lie. Hananiah died within two months as prophesied by Jeremiah.

"Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD. So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month." (Jeremiah 28:16-17, KJV)

Application: Lessons for Us Today

 

The false prophecy of Hananiah was proven hollow in just two months. This dramatic contrast offers us crucial lessons:

• Reject the World's False Peace: Choose the path of truth which demands repentance and the straight way, rather than messages promising easy success and prosperity.

• Raise the Standard of Verification: When encountering spiritual teachings, use the unchanging standard of the entirety of Scripture and historical Christian teaching to verify them, not emotions or charisma.

• Trust in the Lord's Sovereignty: Instead of getting entangled in human conflicts over injustice, trust in God's sovereign timing and judgment, relying on prayer and patience like Jeremiah.

Conclusion: Living a Life Victorious in Truth

 

The prophecy of Hananiah's 'peace' was eclipsed by the swift fulfillment of the prophecy of his 'death,' starkly exposing the difference between truth and deception.

God desires that His Church, even when facing persecution (tribulation) from the Synagogue of Satan (Revelation 2:9; 3:9) and similar deceiving forces, should remain steadfast in the truth and not be overcome by the test of falsehood.

May we wear the yoke of God's Word and live a blessed life, prevailing in truth with boldness and patience.
