세상은 화려한 업적과 이름을 남긴 사람만 기억하지만,
하나님은 묵묵히 충성하며 이름 없이 헌신한 사람도 결코 잊지 않으십니다.
오늘 본문에서는 두 인물, 우리야와 아히감,을 통해
두려움 속에서도 하나님께 충성한 사람들을 기억하시는 하나님을 볼 수 있습니다.
오늘의 메시지는 세 가지입니다.

두려움 속에서도 하나님께 충성하는 자가 있다는 것

숨은 충성으로 하나님의 사명을 돕는 자가 있다는 것

하나님은 그들의 이름을 결코 잊지 않으신다는 사실
Ⅰ. 우리야 – 두려움 속에서도 하나님께 충성한 이름 없는 종
1) 우리야의 배경
우리야는 예레미야와 같은 시대의 예언자로, 여호야김 왕 시대에 활동했습니다.
그는 예루살렘의 멸망을 경고하며 왕과 백성에게 불편한 메시지를 전했습니다.
비록 성경에는 짧게 등장하지만, 그의 충성과 용기는 하나님 앞에 기록되었습니다.
2) 우리야의 충성

왕의 미움과 죽음의 위협 속에서도 하나님의 말씀을 숨기지 않음

결과가 아니라 말씀의 진실함과 순종이 중심

세상은 눈치 못 챌지라도, 하나님은 그의 충성을 기억하심
3) 우리야의 두려움
왕의 죽음 위협을 듣고 우리야는 이집트로 도망했습니다.
두려움은 신앙의 부정이 아니라 인간적인 반응입니다.
a) 엘리야의 예 – 왕상 19:4
“그가 거기서 스스로 말하기를 ‘이제는 내 생명을 거두소서. 내가 여호와 앞에서 힘이 다하였고, 내 조상들보다 더 충성되게 섬겼습니다.’ 하고 광야로 도망하니라.”

엘리야는 이세벨의 위협으로 두려움과 절망 속에 있었지만, 하나님은 그를 책망하지 않으시고 다시 사명으로 세우셨습니다.
b) 사도 바울의 예 – 고린도전서 2:3, 사도행전 18:9–10

“내가 이 아픔과 두려움과 많은 떨림 속에서 있었음이라.”
사도행전 18:9–10
“주께서 밤에 환상 가운데 그에게 말씀하시되 ‘두려워하지 말라. 계속 말하며 침묵하지 말라. 내가 너와 함께 있으니 아무도 너를 대적하지 못하리라.’ 하시니라.”

Ⅱ. 아히감 – 숨은 충성으로 사명을 지킨 이름 없는 종
1) 아히감의 가문 배경
아히감은 사반의 집안 출신으로, 요시야 시대 개혁과 율법책 발견에 참여한 신실한 가문을 이어받았습니다.
그의 아들 그다랴 역시 바벨론 포로기 이후 유다 총독이 되어 믿음의 혈통을 이어갑니다.
2) 아히감의 충성
아히감은 권력과 위협 속에서도 예언자를 보호했습니다.
직접 드러나지 않았지만, 하나님의 말씀을 지킨 숨은 충성이었습니다.
3) 아히감의 헌신과 보호
그의 충성 덕분에 예레미야는 죽임을 면하고 말씀 사명을 끝까지 감당할 수 있었습니다.
아히감의 충성은 세상에서는 눈에 띄지 않았지만, 하나님은 그의 이름과 헌신을 기억하시고 상급하셨습니다.
현대 적용:

가정, 교회, 직장에서 묵묵히 헌신하는 숨은 일들도 하나님 눈에는 귀중합니다.

우리의 이름이 드러나지 않아도 하나님은 그 충성을 기억하십니다.
Ⅲ. 두 종류의 보호와 상급
1) 순교로 드러난 충성
우리야는 하나님의 말씀을 전하다 순교했습니다.
세상의 눈에는 실패나 두려움으로 보일 수 있지만, 하나님은 그의 충성을 잊지 않으십니다.
그의 순교는 하나님께서 기억하시고 상급으로 갚으신 영광스러운 충성입니다.
2) 숨은 보호 속의 충성
아히감은 숨은 자리에서 예언자를 보호함으로 하나님의 사명을 지켰습니다.
그의 헌신 덕분에 예레미야는 죽임을 면하고 사명을 끝까지 감당했습니다.
아히감의 충성은 세상에서는 눈에 띄지 않았지만, 하나님은 그의 이름을 기억하시고 상급하셨습니다.
3) 공통된 메시지
순교와 숨은 보호, 두 가지 방식은 다르지만 공통점이 있습니다.
하나님은 결과가 다르더라도, 두려움 속에서도 충성한 사람들의 마음을 기억하신다는 사실입니다.
우리의 작은 헌신도 하나님께서는 귀하게 여기시며, 결국 영원한 상급과 기록으로 이어집니다.
Ⅳ. 적용 – 하나님은 두려움 속의 충성도 기억하신다

3) 순교도 하나님의 보호와 상급

but God never forgets those who faithfully serve Him in obscurity.
In today’s text, we see two men, Uriah and Ahikam, who demonstrate
that God remembers those who remain faithful even in fear.
Today’s message has three main points:

God honors hidden faithfulness that supports His mission.

Even the smallest act of faithfulness is never forgotten by God.
I. Uriah – Faithful Amid Fear
1) Background of Uriah
Uriah was a prophet in the time of Jeremiah during the reign of Jehoiakim.
He warned Jerusalem of its impending destruction and spoke the uncomfortable truth to the king and people.
Although briefly mentioned in Scripture, his faithfulness and courage are recorded before God.
2) Uriah’s Faithfulness

He spoke God’s word despite the king’s wrath and threat of death.

The focus was on obedience to God, not the results.

Though the world may not notice, God remembers his faithfulness.
3) Uriah’s Fear
When threatened with death, Uriah fled to Egypt.
Fear is not a denial of faith but a human response.
a) Example of Elijah – 1 Kings 19:4 (KJV)
“But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”

Elijah fled from Jezebel in fear and despair, yet God did not rebuke him and restored him to his mission.
b) Example of Paul – 1 Corinthians 2:3; Acts 18:9–10 (KJV)
1 Corinthians 2:3:
“And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.”
Acts 18:9–10:
“Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.”

Paul experienced fear and trembling in his ministry, yet God’s presence gave him courage to continue.
Modern Application:

II. Ahikam – Hidden Faithfulness Protecting God’s Mission
1) Background of Ahikam
Ahikam was from a faithful family, descended from Shaphan’s house, involved in King Josiah’s reforms and the discovery of the Book of the Law.
His son Gedaliah later became governor of Judah after the Babylonian exile, continuing the faithful lineage.
2) Ahikam’s Faithfulness
Ahikam protected the prophet Jeremiah despite threats of authority.
Though unseen by the world, his faithfulness preserved God’s word.
3) Ahikam’s Commitment and Protection
Because of Ahikam, Jeremiah was spared and could complete his mission.
Though hidden, God remembered Ahikam’s faithfulness and rewarded him.
Modern Application:

Quiet acts of service in family, church, or workplace are precious to God.

Even if unnoticed by others, God remembers your faithfulness.
III. Two Kinds of Protection and Reward
1) Faithfulness Revealed in Martyrdom
Uriah was martyred for speaking God’s word.
Though it appeared as defeat to the world, God remembered and honored his faithfulness.
2) Faithfulness in Hidden Protection
Ahikam’s hidden support enabled Jeremiah to survive and complete his mission.
Though unseen, God remembered and rewarded Ahikam’s faithfulness.
3) Common Message
Martyrdom and hidden support differ in form, but both show that God remembers those who remain faithful in fear.
Even the smallest act of faithfulness is precious to God and leads to eternal reward and remembrance.
IV. Application – God Remembers Faithfulness Even in Fear
