Duties of the Church toward Civil Authorities
교회가 위정자를 위해 행할 의무들
It is the duty of people to pray for magistrates,
백성들은 위정자들을 위해 기도해야 하며,
to honour their persons,
그들의 인격을 존중하고,
to pay them tribute or other dues,
세금과 기타 의무를 다해야 하며,
to obey their lawful commands,
합법적 명령에 순종하고,
and to be subject to their authority, for conscience sake.
그들의 권위에 복종하며, 이 모든 것은 성도의 양심에 따라 행해져야 합니다.
Infidelity, or difference in religion, doth not make void the magistrates' just and legal authority,
만일 불신앙이나 혹은 종교가 다르다는 이유로 위정자들의 정당하고 합법적인 권위를 무시해서는 안 되며,
nor free the people from their due obedience to them:
또한 이런 이유로 백성들이 위정자들에게 순종해야 할 의무를 거부해서도 안 됩니다.
from which ecclesiastical persons are not exempted.
이러한 의무에는 교직자들조차 예외가 없습니다.
Separation of Politics and Religion
정치와 종교의 분리
Much less hath the Pope any power and jurisdiction over them in their dominions,
교황은 위정자들의 통치 영역에서 어떤 권세나 사법권도 행사할 수 없습니다.
or over any of their people,
또한 위정자들이 다스리는 백성들에 대해서도 권세를 행사할 수 없습니다.
and, least of all, to deprive them of their dominions, or lives,
게다가 그들에게서 통치권이나 생명을 박탈할 수 없으며,
if he shall judge them to be heretics, or upon any other pretence whatsoever.
비록 교황이 그들을 이단으로 정죄하거나 어떤 다른 구실을 붙인다 해도 그럴 수 없습니다.
