뜻을 돌이키시겠고

사랑하는 성도 여러분, 오늘 묵상할 말씀은 “뜻을 돌이키시겠다”라는 하나님의 약속입니다.
하나님은 때로 단호하게 심판을 선포하시지만, 회개와 순종이라는 조건을 통해 뜻을 돌이키시고 회복시키십니다.
오늘은 네 가지 흐름으로 말씀을 나누겠습니다.

각 흐름을 통해 하나님의 심판과 긍휼, 그리고 우리의 회개가 갖는 의미를 함께 묵상해 보겠습니다.

1. 하나님의 단호한 선언

먼저 하나님께서 선포하신 단호한 심판을 살펴봅니다.

• 예레미야 7:16
  “너는 이 백성을 위하여 기도하지 말라… 내가 듣지 아니하리라.”
  → 중보 금지, 심판 확정

• 예레미야 15:1
  “모세와 사무엘이 내 앞에 섰을지라도 내 마음은 이 백성을 향할 수 없나니…”
  → 위대한 중보자라도 불순종과 악이 극심하면 심판을 피할 수 없습니다.

• 예레미야 19:11
  “토기장이의 그릇을 다시 고칠 수 없음 같이 부수리라.”
  → 회복 불가처럼 보이는 단호한 심판도 존재

요약: 하나님은 때로 뜻을 돌이키지 않을 것처럼 단호하게 말씀하십니다.

2. 하나님께서 뜻을 돌이키심

하지만 하나님은 단호한 선언 후에도 뜻을 돌이키십니다.
이는 성경 전체에서 일관되게 나타나는 원리입니다.

• 예레미야 18:7-10
  “멸하리라 하였으나, 그 나라가 돌이키면 재앙을 돌이키고, 불순종하면 복을 철회하리라.”

조건 충족 시 철회 가능

회개, 순종, 중보 등 조건이 충족되면 하나님은 뜻을 돌이키십니다.

성경 속 사례

• 모세 – 출애굽기 32:14
  금송아지 사건에서, 모세의 간구로 심판이 철회됨

• 아브라함 – 창세기 18:32
  소돔 멸망 조건에서, 의인을 위해 간구하자 심판 완화

• 히스기야 – 열왕기하 20:1-6
  병으로 죽음이 선포되었으나, 간구와 기도로 하나님께서 생명을 연장

• 므낫세 – 역대하 33:10-13
  “므낫세가 여호와 앞에서 악을 행하였으나, 포로 중 고난 중에 겸비히 기도하매 하나님이 그를 회복시키셨다.”

3. 왜 하나님은 뜻을 돌이키시는가?

3-1. 하나님의 주권 때문에  

• 예레미야 18:4
  “진흙으로 만든 그릇이 토기장이의 손에서 훼손되매, 그가 다시 그것으로 다른 그릇을 만들되 토기장이가 보기에 좋은 대로 그것을 만들더라.”

→ 하나님께서 뜻을 정하시는 것도, 뜻을 돌이키시는 것도 하나님의 주권에 달려 있습니다.

3-2. 하나님은 우리의 부모님의 심정으로 대하기 때문에 

• 예레미야 18:8
  “만일 내가 멸하리라고 선포한 그 민족이 자기들의 악에서 돌이키면 내가 행하려고 생각했던 그 재앙을 돌이키겠고”

• 예레미야 18:10
  “만일 그 민족이 내 눈앞에서 악을 행하여 내 목소리에 순종하지 아니하면 내가 그들의 유익을 위해 허락하리라고 말한 그 복에 대해 뜻을 돌이키리라.”

부모가 자녀의 장래를 위해 경고하고, 달래고, 때로는 협박하는 것처럼,
하나님은 우리의 회개와 회복을 간절히 원하십니다.
경고 속에는 돌아오기를 바라는 하나님의 마음이 담겨 있으며, 조건이 충족되면 심판은 취소될 수 있습니다.

4. 우리의 책임

4-1. 회개의 제목을 알아야 함

성령님께서 우리의 마음속에 계속 가르치십니다.

• 요한복음 14:26
  “보혜사 곧 아버지께서 내 이름으로 보내실 성령… 내가 너희에게 말한 모든 것을 생각나게 하리라.”

• 요한계시록 3:20
  “볼지어다 내가 문 밖에 서서 두드리노니…”
  → 예수님이 마음의 문을 두드리시고, 우리의 응답을 기다리십니다.

4-2. 회개의 합당한 열매를 맺어야 함

• 나의 사례 (요한계시록 2장, 에베소 교회)

  • 첫사랑을 잃음

  • 말씀과 지식 안에서는 자랐지만 기도에 게으름

  • 설교를 통해 자신이 아닌 다른 성도에게만 적용

  • 성령님 인도 대신 자신의 힘과 지혜 의지

→ 주님은 말씀을 통해 회개를 촉구하시고, 합당한 열매를 맺기를 원하십니다.

사랑하는 성도 여러분, 하나님은 우리의 회개를 원하시며, 뜻을 돌이키시고 회복시키십니다.

회개는 단순한 감정이 아니라, 말씀과 성령님의 인도에 따라 삶으로 드러나는 구체적 행동입니다.
우리는 회개의 제목을 알고, 합당한 열매를 맺어야 합니다.

하나님은 우리의 삶을 당신의 뜻 가운데 인도하시며, 우리의 연약함과 부족함을 사용하여 그분의 계획을 이루십니다.
그러므로 우리는 버려야 할 것은 버리고, 하나님께 쓰임 받는 그릇으로 계속 빚어가심을 받아들이며 순종해야 합니다.

오늘 말씀을 마음에 새기며, 회개의 제목을 깨닫고, 그것을 삶으로 실천하는 삶을 살아가길 기도합니다.

 

He Will Repent of His Purpose

Introduction

Beloved, today’s meditation is on God’s promise to repent of His purpose.
God sometimes declares judgment decisively, but through repentance and obedience, He repents of His purpose and brings restoration.
Today, we will consider the message in four flows:

1. God’s decisive declaration

2. God repenting of His purpose

3. Our responsibility and application

4. Repentance and its fruit

Through these, we will meditate on God’s judgment and mercy and the meaning of our repentance.

1. God’s Decisive Declaration

First, let us look at the decisive judgment God declares.

• Jeremiah 7:16 (KJV)
  “Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear thee.”
  → Intercession forbidden, judgment confirmed

• Jeremiah 15:1 (KJV)
  “Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people…”
  → Even great intercessors cannot avert judgment if disobedience and evil prevail.

• Jeremiah 19:11 (KJV)
  “Like the potter’s vessel that is broken, so will I break this people.”
  → Some judgments appear irreparable and decisive

Summary: God sometimes speaks as if He will not turn His purpose, showing His decisiveness.

2. God Repenting of His Purpose

Yet, after decisive declaration, God repents of His purpose.
This principle is consistent throughout Scripture.

• Jeremiah 18:7-10 (KJV)
  “At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
  If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
  And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
  If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.”

Conditional Reversal

When conditions such as repentance, obedience, or intercession are met, God can turn His purpose.

Biblical Examples

• Moses – Exodus 32:14 (KJV)
  God relented from judgment over the golden calf incident because of Moses’ intercession.

• Abraham – Genesis 18:32 (KJV)
  God softened His judgment on Sodom for the sake of the righteous.

• Hezekiah – 2 Kings 20:1-6 (KJV)
  Death was decreed, but God extended his life in response to prayer.

• Manasseh – 2 Chronicles 33:10-13 (KJV)
  “And Manasseh humbled himself… and prayed unto the LORD his God, and God was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom.”

→ Judgment followed by repentance and restoration demonstrates God’s mercy and sovereignty.

3. Why Does God Repent of His Purpose?

3-1. God’s Sovereignty

• Jeremiah 18:4 (KJV)
  “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.”

→ God’s decisions and repentance flow from His sovereign will.

3-2. Because We Are His Children

• Jeremiah 18:8 (KJV)
  “If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.”

• Jeremiah 18:10 (KJV)
  “If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.”

Just as parents warn, admonish, and appeal to their children, God regards us as His children, desiring our return.
Warnings contain a longing for our repentance, and upon our turning, judgment may be revoked.

4. Our Responsibility

4-1. Recognizing the Object of Repentance

The Holy Spirit continually teaches us.

• John 14:26 (KJV)
  “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost… shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

• Revelation 3:20 (KJV)
  “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
  → Christ knocks on our hearts, awaiting our response.

4-2. Bearing Fruit in Repentance

• Personal example: Revelation 2 – Ephesian church

  • Lost first love

  • Grew in knowledge but neglected prayer

  • Preaching applied only to others, not self

  • Relied on personal wisdom rather than Spirit’s guidance

→ The Lord calls us to repent through His Word and bear appropriate fruit.

Conclusion

Beloved, God desires our repentance and repents of His purpose to restore us.

Repentance is not mere emotion; it is concrete action according to the Word and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
We must know the object of our repentance and bear its proper fruit.

God guides our lives according to His will, using our weaknesses to accomplish His plan.
Therefore, let us let go of what hinders us and be molded as vessels fit for God’s use, living in obedience.

May we internalize today’s message, recognize the focus of our repentance, and live it out in daily life.
