예수님의 권위 

 

1. 왜 권위가 중요한가?

권위는 말씀과 사역의 설득력과 영향력의 근원입니다.
아무리 많은 지식과 열정을 가지고 있어도, 그것이 진정한 권위를 동반하지 않는다면 사람의 마음을 움직이거나 삶을 변화시키기 어렵습니다.

예수님 당시 유대 사회에는 율법과 조상들의 전통은 있었지만, 참된 영적 권위는 사라져 있었습니다.
서기관들과 랍비들은 모세의 율법을 가르치면서도 항상 “랍비 아무개가 말하길…” 하며, 다른 사람의 권위에 의존했습니다.
그들의 가르침은 정보 전달에 그쳤고, 삶의 변화를 일으킬 수 있는 능력은 없었습니다.

그러나 마가복음 1장에서는 예수님께서 말씀과 행동을 통해 권위를 직접 드러내셨으며, 이는 사람들에게 깊은 충격과 변화를 일으켰습니다.

2. 예수님의 권위는 어떻게 드러났는가?

1) 말씀의 권위 (막 1:22)

“그들이 그의 가르치심에 놀라니, 이는 그가 권위 있는 자와 같이 가르치시고 서기관들과 같지 아니함일러라.” (막 1:22)

예수님의 가르침은 기존의 랍비들과 달랐습니다. 그분은 다른 사람의 말을 인용하지 않고,
**“나는 너희에게 말하노니”**라는 말씀으로 스스로 권위 있게 선포하셨습니다.

그분의 말씀은 단순한 정보 전달이 아니라 생명력과 변화의 능력이 있었습니다.
사람들은 그 말씀을 들을 때, 단지 이해하는 것을 넘어서 마음이 흔들리고 삶이 도전받는 경험을 했습니다.

“예수께서 권위 있는 자 같이 가르치시고 서기관들과 같지 아니하더라.” (마 7:29)

산상수훈을 마치신 후, 사람들은 예수님의 가르침이 기존 율법학자들의 것과는 비교할 수 없는 독자적이고 본질적인 권위를 지닌 것임을 깨달았습니다.

2) 능력의 권위 (막 1:23–26)

회당에서 예수님께서 말씀을 가르치실 때, 더러운 귀신 들린 사람이 소리쳤습니다.

“나사렛 예수여, 우리가 당신과 무슨 상관이 있나이까? 우리를 멸하러 왔나이까? 나는 당신이 누구인 줄 아노니, 하나님의 거룩한 이니이다!”

귀신조차 예수님의 정체와 권위를 부인할 수 없었습니다.
예수님은 그 어떤 의식도 없이, 단 한마디로 말씀하셨습니다.

“잠잠하라. 그 사람에게서 나오라!”

그러자 귀신은 즉시 떠나갔고, 사람들은 예수님의 말씀과 능력이 결합된 실제적 권세에 놀라게 되었습니다.

“인자가 땅에서 죄를 사하는 권세가 있는 줄을 너희로 알게 하려 함이라.” (눅 5:24)

예수님은 단순히 병을 고치시는 분이 아니라, 죄를 사하시는 권세를 가지신 하나님의 아들이십니다.
이 권위는 인간이나 제도에서 비롯된 것이 아니라, 하나님께로부터 온 절대적 권위입니다.

3. 우리는 어떻게 예수님의 권위를 드러낼 수 있는가?

예수님의 제자된 우리는, 그분의 권위를 단지 배우는 자로서가 아니라 드러내는 자로 살아가야 합니다.
예수님의 권위는 말씀에 순종하고, 그 말씀을 삶으로 살아낼 때 우리 안에서도 역사합니다.

단순히 말씀을 아는 것이 권위를 주지 않습니다.
삶과 말씀이 일치될 때, 우리의 신앙은 세상 속에서 참된 권위를 얻게 됩니다.

“경건의 모양은 있으나 경건의 능력은 부인하는 자들에게서 돌아서라.” (딤후 3:5)

말씀을 말하지만 삶에 능력이 없다면, 세상은 우리의 신앙을 인정하지 않습니다.
그러나 작은 순종과 실천의 삶을 통해 하나님의 권위를 경험하게 될 때,
가정과 직장, 사역의 현장에서도 영적 권위가 드러나게 됩니다.

4. 적용 질문

• 나는 예수님의 권위를 삶에서 어떻게 경험하고 있는가?
   

• 올 한 해 나를 붙들고 있는 하나님의 말씀은 무엇인가?
   

• 그 말씀이 내 삶과 구체적으로 연결되고 있는가?
   

• 혹시 올해의 요절 말씀은 희미해지지는 않았는가?
   

말씀으로 돌아가 말씀을 붙들고, 그 말씀에 순종할 때
우리는 예수님의 말씀의 권위와 능력의 권위를 더욱 깊이 경험하게 됩니다.
작은 실천과 순종 속에서 쌓아가는 영적 권위가,
결국 우리의 삶과 공동체를 변화시키는 능력이 될 것입니다.

 

The Authority of Jesus 

1. Why is authority important?

Authority is the foundation of both the persuasiveness and influence of the Word and ministry.
No matter how much knowledge or passion a person may have, if true authority is lacking, it is difficult to move hearts or bring about real transformation in people’s lives.

During Jesus’ time, the Jewish society had the Law and traditions, but lacked true spiritual authority.
The scribes and rabbis taught the Law of Moses, but they often said things like “Rabbi so-and-so said…”, relying on the authority of others rather than their own.
Their teachings conveyed information but lacked the power to change lives.

However, in Mark chapter 1, Jesus reveals His authority clearly—through both His words and actions—and it left people deeply astonished and transformed.

2. How was Jesus’ authority revealed?

1) The Authority of His Teaching (Mark 1:22)

“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.”
(Mark 1:22, KJV)

Jesus’ teaching was unlike that of the rabbis. He did not depend on quoting others.
He declared truth with His own authority, saying:

“Verily I say unto you…”

His words were not just information but carried life-transforming power.
Those who heard Him were not only intellectually engaged but deeply moved and challenged in their hearts.

“For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”
(Matthew 7:29, KJV)

After the Sermon on the Mount, the people recognized that Jesus’ teaching possessed a unique and essential authority, unlike anything the legal experts had offered.

2) The Authority of His Power (Mark 1:23–26)

While teaching in the synagogue, Jesus was confronted by a man possessed by an unclean spirit who cried out:

“Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.”
(Mark 1:24, KJV)

Even the demons could not deny Jesus’ identity and authority.
Without any ritual or struggle, Jesus simply spoke a command:

“Hold thy peace, and come out of him.”
(Mark 1:25, KJV)

Immediately, the demon left, and everyone was amazed at the real authority demonstrated in Jesus’ union of word and power.

“But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins…”
(Luke 5:24, KJV)

Jesus not only healed the sick but also demonstrated His divine authority to forgive sins.
This authority did not come from any human institution but was the absolute authority of the Son of God.

3. How can we reflect the authority of Jesus?

As disciples of Jesus, we are not just to learn His authority but to live it out.
Jesus’ authority works within us when we submit to His Word and seek to live it faithfully.

Merely knowing the Bible does not give us authority.
True spiritual authority is revealed when our lives align with His Word.

“Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
(2 Timothy 3:5, KJV)

If our lives only display the form of godliness without its power, the world will not recognize our faith as genuine.
But when we take steps of obedience and practical application, God's authority begins to manifest in our families, workplaces, and ministries.

4. Reflection & Application

Jesus' authority is not a relic of the past. It is to be experienced and demonstrated in the present.
Ask yourself:

• How am I experiencing the authority of Jesus in my daily life?
   

• What is the specific Word of God I am holding onto this year?
   

• Is that Word connected to my real-life choices, habits, and relationships?
   

• Has the verse I chose as my key Scripture this year faded from focus?
   

Let us return to the Word. Let us cling to it and obey it.
Through such obedience, we will personally experience the authority of Jesus’ Word and power.

Even small steps of faith and obedience will build spiritual authority that changes not only us but also those around us.

Authority is not something we claim with words—
it is something we live out with faithfulness.
