1. Inability to Do Good Works by Ourselves — 스스로 선행할 능력이 없음

Their ability to do good works is not at all of themselves,
선행을 행할 수 있는 능력은 결코 우리 자신에게서 나오는 것이 아닙니다.

but wholly from the Spirit of Christ.
오직 그리스도의 영인 성령님으로부터 전적으로 오는 것입니다.

2. The Need for the Holy Spirit’s Grace — 성령님의 은혜가 필요함

And that they may be enabled thereunto, beside the graces they have already received,
그들이 이미 받은 은혜 외에 선행할 수 있도록 하기 위해서는,

there is required an actual influence of the same Holy Spirit to work in them.
동일한 성령님께서 그들 안에서 실제로 역사하시는 특별한 은혜가 필요합니다.

3. Why Good Works Must Be Done by the Grace of the Holy Spirit — 선행은 성령님의 은혜로 행해야 하는 이유

to will and to do of His good pleasure:
하나님의 뜻과 기뻐하시는 일을 행하기 위해서입니다.

4. The Believer’s Responsibility in Doing Good Works — 선행에 대한 성도의 책임

1) Good works must be done even without special grace.
yet are they not hereupon to grow negligent,
그러나 이 때문에 그들이 게을러져서는 안 되며,

as if they were not bound to perform any duty unless upon a special motion of the Spirit;
성령님의 특별한 은혜가 없으면 선행할 의무가 없다고 생각해서는 안 됩니다.

 

2) They should diligently seek and wait for special grace.
but they ought to be diligent in stirring up the grace of God that is in them.
오히려 자신 안에 있는 하나님의 은혜를 부지런히 일깨우기 위해 노력해야 합니다.
