1. 하나님의 섭리 안에 드러난 속성

The almighty power, unsearchable wisdom, and infinite goodness of God,
전능하신 능력, 측량할 수 없는 지혜, 그리고 무한한 선하심을 가지신 하나님은
so far manifest themselves in his providence,
지금까지 그분의 속성들을 자신의 섭리 안에서 명백히 나타내셨다.

 

2. 하나님의 섭리가 미치는 범위

that it extendeth itself even to the first fall,
그것은 첫 번째 타락에까지 미쳤으며
and all other sins of angels and men,
모든 다른 천사들과 사람들의 죄에도 미쳤다.

 

3. 하나님의 주권적 섭리 방식

and that not by a bare permission,
그리고 단순한 허용이 아니라
but such as hath joined with it a most wise and powerful bounding,
가장 지혜롭고 강력한 제한을 동반한 것이며
and otherwise ordering and governing of them, in a manifold dispensation, to his own holy ends;
그리고 다양한 방식으로 질서 있게 명령하고 다스리셔서, 그분의 거룩한 목적을 이루셨다.

 

4. 죄의 기원과 책임에 대한 하나님의 무관함

yet so, as the sinfulness thereof proceedeth only from the creature, and not from God;
그러나 그 죄성은 오직 피조물에게서 나오는 것이며, 하나님께로부터 나온 것이 아니다.
who being most holy and righteous, neither is, nor can be the author or approver of sin.
가장 거룩하고 의로우신 하나님은 죄의 기원자도 아니시며, 죄를 승인하시는 분도 아니시다.
