1. 구원의 확신에 이르는 시간과 과정은 차이가 있음

 

This infallible assurance doth not so belong to the essence of faith, 이 구원에 대한 절대 확신은 구원의 본질에 속할 정도는 아니라서

 

but that a true believer may wait long, 참 된 신자라도 오랜 시간이 걸리기도 하고

 

and conflict with many difficulties, 많은 어려움 속에서 갈등하기도 합니다.

 

before he be partaker of it: 구원의 확신이 이르기 전까지

 

2. 구원의 확신은 말씀과 성령님의 깨닫게 하심을 통해 가능

 

yet, being enabled by the Spirit 그러나 성령님의 도움을 통해

 

to know the things which are freely given him of God, 그에게 주어진 은혜들을 알게 되는데

 

he may, without extraordinary revelation, (말씀 이외의) 특별한 계시가 필요한 것이 아니라

 

in the right use of ordinary means, attain thereunto. (이미 주어진 계신, 말씀)의 바른 사용을 통해 가능하다.

 

3. 구원의 확신을 확인하려고 하는 것은 성도의 의무

 

And therefore it is the duty of everyone to give all diligence to make his calling and election sure; 그러므로 성도의 부르심과 선택에 대해 확신을 가지려고 하는 것은 모든 성도들의 의무입니다.

 

4. 구원의 확신으로 인한 영적 열매

 

that thereby his heart may be enlarged in peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, 성령님 안에서 우리 마음이 평화와 기쁨

 

in love and thankfulness to God, 하나님에 대한 사랑과 감사

 

and in strength and cheerfulness in the duties of obedience, 순종의 의무들에 대한 강함과 활기참을 강화시키고

 

the proper fruits of this assurance: so far is it from inclining men to looseness. 이 구원의 확신에 대한 합당한 열매로서 (긴장이 풀려 느슨해져 자칫 방탕한 삶으로 이어질 수 있는) 위험에서 우리를 (지켜 준다)
