| 성경본문내용 | 순종하는 일에 있어서 이생에서 가능한 최고의 경지까지 이른 자들이라도 하나님이 요구하시는 것 이상의 것을 한다던가 할 수 있는 것은 아니요 오히려 그들이 의무상 하지 않으면 안될 많은 일에도 미치지 못한다. They who, in their obedience, attain to the greatest height which is possible in this life, are so far from being able to supererogate, and to do more than God requires, as that they fall short of much which in the duty they are bound to do. |

They who, in their obedience, attain to the greatest height which is possible in this life, (하나님의 뜻에) 순종함에 있어서 이생에서 최고의 경지에 이른 자라 할지라도
are so far from being able to supererogate, (하나님께서 행하라 명하신) 의무 그 이상을 할 수 없으며
and to do more than God requires, 하나님께서 요구하신 것 이상을 할 수 없습니다.
as that they fall short of much which in the duty they are bound to do. (오히려 아무리 선행을 많이 행하였다고 해도) 그들이 해야만 하는 일들을 다 하지 못할 따름입니다.
