These good works, done in obedience to God's commandments, 하나님의 명령에 의해 순종함으로 행해진 선행은

 

are the fruits and evidence of a true and lively faith: 참되고 살아있는 신앙의 열매요 증거인데

 

2. 선행의 유익

 

1) 감사의 표현

 

and by them believers manifest their thankfulness, 선행에 의해 선도들은 명확하게 그들의 감사를 표할 수 있고

 

2) 믿음을 강화  

 

strengthen their assurance, 그들의 믿음이) 강화되고, 확신있게 되며

 

3) 이웃에 덕을 끼침

 

edify their brethren, 형제들의 믿음과 사랑을 향상시키며

 

4) 말씀대로 사는 본을 보임

 

adorn the profession of the Gospel, (복음의 선언을 장식시키며)

 

5) 대적들의 비난을 잠재움

 

stop the mouths of the adversaries, 대적자들의 (비난하는) 입을 닫게 하고

 

6) 하나님을 영화롭게 함

 

and glorify God, whose workmanship they are, created in Christ Jesus thereunto; 예수 그리스도 안에서 선행을 위해 창조하신, (창조주) 하나님을 영화롭게 하며

 

7) 영원한 생명에 이르는 연습

 

that, having their fruit unto holiness, they may have the end eternal life 거룩함에 이르는 (많은) 열매들을 맺는 (삶을 살다 결국에는). 영원한 생명에 이르게 됩니다.
