성경본문내용 1. (악장에게 준 다윗의 시) 오 내 찬양이 되시는 [하나님]이여, 잠잠하지 마옵소서.
2. 사악한 자의 입과 속이는 자의 입이 열려서 나를 치며 그들이 거짓말하는 혀로 나를 비방하고
3. 또 미워하는 말로 나를 에워싸며 까닭 없이 나를 대적하여 싸웠나이다.
4. 나의 사랑으로 인하여 그들이 내 대적이 되었사오나 나는 스스로 기도할 뿐이니이다.
5. 그들이 내게 악으로 선을 갚으며 증오로 나의 사랑을 갚았사오니
6. 주께서 사악한 자를 그 위에 세우시며 사탄이 그의 오른쪽에 서게 하옵소서.
7. 그가 심판 받을 때에 정죄 받게 하시고 그의 기도가 죄가 되게 하시며
8. 그의 날들을 적게 하시고 그의 직분을 타인이 취하게 하시며
9. 그의 자녀들은 아버지 없는 자가 되고 그의 아내는 과부가 되며
10. 그의 자녀들은 계속해서 방랑하는 자가 되어 구걸하고 또 자기들의 황폐한 곳을 떠나 자기들의 빵을 구하게 하소서.
11. 강제로 빼앗는 자가 그의 모든 소유를 취하게 하시고 낯선 자들이 그가 수고한 것을 노략하게 하시며
12. 그에게 긍휼을 베풀 자가 없게 하시고 아버지가 없는 그의 자녀들에게 호의를 베풀 자도 없게 하시며
13. 그의 후손이 끊어지게 하시고 다음 세대에 그들의 이름이 지워지게 하소서.
14. {주}께서는 그의 조상들의 불법을 기억하시며 그의 어머니의 죄를 지우지 마시고
15. 그것들이 계속해서 {주} 앞에 있게 하사 친히 그들에 대한 기억을 땅에서 끊으소서.
16. 그가 긍휼 베풀기를 기억하지 아니하고 오히려 가난한 자와 궁핍한 자를 핍박함으로써 심지어 마음이 상한 자를 죽이기까지 하였나이다.
17. 그가 저주하기를 사랑하였은즉 그것이 그에게 임하게 하시고 그가 축복하기를 기뻐하지 아니하였은즉 그것이 그를 멀리 떠나게 하소서.
18. 그가 저주하기를 옷 입듯 하였은즉 그것이 물같이 그의 내장 속으로 들어가며 기름같이 그의 뼈 속으로 들어가게 하소서.
19. 또 그것이 그에게는 그를 덮는 옷 같고 계속해서 그가 띠는 띠 같게 하소서.
20. 이것이 내 대적들과 내 혼을 비방하는 자들이 {주}께 받는 보응이 되게 하소서.
21. 그러나, 오 [주] {하나님}이여, 주께서 주의 이름을 위하여 나를 위해 행하소서. 주의 긍휼이 선하시오니 주께서 나를 건지소서.
22. 나는 가난하고 궁핍하며 내 마음은 내 속에서 상처를 입었나이다.
23. 나는 기우는 그림자같이 지나가며 또 메뚜기같이 위아래로 까불려지고
24. 내 무릎은 금식하므로 쇠약하며 내 살은 기름기가 없나이다.
25. 나는 또 그들에게 비방거리가 되었사오니 그들이 나를 보고 자기 머리를 흔들었나이다.
26. 오 {주} 나의 [하나님]이여, 나를 도우소서. 오 주의 긍휼에 따라 나를 구원하소서.
27. 그리하여 이것이 주의 손인 줄을 그들이 알게 하소서. {주}께서 곧 주께서 그것을 행하셨나이다.
28. 그들이 저주할지라도 주는 복을 주소서. 그들이 일어설 때에 부끄러움을 당하게 하시되 주의 종은 기뻐하게 하소서.
29. 내 대적들이 수치로 옷 입게 하시며 겉옷으로 자기를 가리듯 자기의 당황함으로 자기를 가리게 하소서.
30. 내가 내 입으로 {주}를 크게 찬양하며 참으로 무리 가운데서 그분을 찬양하리니
31. 그분께서 가난한 자의 오른쪽에 서사 그의 혼을 정죄하는 자들에게서 그를 구원하시리로다.

1. Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;
2. For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3. They compassed me about also with words of hatred; and fought against me without a cause.
4. For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.
5. And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
6. Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
7. When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin.
8. Let his days be few; and let another take his office.
9. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
10. Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places.
11. Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let the strangers spoil his labour.
12. Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.
13. Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out.
14. Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15. Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
16. Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
17. As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.
18. As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.
19. Let it be unto him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.
20. Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.
21. But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.
22. For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
23. I am gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am tossed up and down as the locust.
24. My knees are weak through fasting; and my flesh faileth of fatness.
25. I became also a reproach unto them: when they looked upon me they shaked their heads.
26. Help me, O LORD my God: O save me according to thy mercy:
27. That they may know that this is thy hand; that thou, LORD, hast done it.
28. Let them curse, but bless thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed; but let thy servant rejoice.
29. Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their own confusion, as with a mantle.
30. I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.
31. For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.

1. 시의 배경

다윗은 깊은 배신과 조롱 속에서 하나님께 부르짖었습니다.
압살롬의 반역기 혹은 그 직후, 아들은 반역했고, 참모 아히도벨은 적으로 돌아섰으며, 백성들 또한 압살롬의 거짓에 속아 마음을 빼앗겼습니다.
다윗은 예루살렘을 떠나 도피하며 시므이의 조롱과 돌을 맞는 수모를 겪었습니다.

왕좌는 무너졌지만, 예배와 찬양은 흔들리지 않았습니다.

2. 저주에 대한 이해

시편 109편에는 강렬한 저주 표현이 등장합니다.

“그의 날들을 적게 하시고, 그의 직분을 타인이 취하게 하시며…” (6절 이하)

묵상 포인트

  • 다윗의 저주는 개인적 복수가 아닌 하나님의 공의에 대한 호소입니다.

  • 그는 직접 보복하지 않고, 모든 판단을 하나님께 맡깁니다.

  • 예수님이 “원수를 사랑하라”(마 5:44) 하신 것처럼, 심판은 하나님께 맡기고 사랑을 선택하는 완성된 가르침입니다.

핵심: 저주는 하나님의 정의가 드러나기를 바라는 기도입니다.

3. 상처받은 마음의 외침

다윗은 사랑했던 사람들에게 배신당하고, 조롱과 비방 속에서 상처받았습니다.

“그들이 거짓말하는 혀로 나를 비방하고”(2절)
“나의 사랑으로 인하여 그들이 내 대적이 되었사오나”(4절)
“내 마음은 내 속에서 상처를 입었나이다”(22절)
“그들이 나를 보고 머리를 흔들었나이다”(25절)

묵상 포인트

  • 배신과 조롱 속에서도 하나님께 솔직하게 부르짖는 다윗의 모습.

  • 우리도 상처와 억울함 앞에서 하나님께 솔직히 기도할 수 있어야 합니다.

4. 배신 속에서 하나님께 의지함

압살롬의 반역, 아히도벨의 배신, 백성들의 속임 속에서도 다윗은 도피하며 복수를 거부하고 하나님께 맡깁니다.

“피 흘린 자여, 가거라!”(삼하 16:7)
“혹시 여호와께서 내 고통을 보시고 선으로 갚아 주실지 모르리라.”

묵상 포인트

  • 억울함 속에서도 하나님의 판단과 인도에 자신을 맡기는 다윗.

  • 우리도 고통 속에서 하나님께 의지하며 평안을 배워야 합니다.

5. 상처 입은 마음의 고백

“나는 가난하고 궁핍하며 내 마음은 내 속에서 상처를 입었나이다.” (21–25절)

왕으로서 강했던 다윗이 하나님 앞에서는 상처 입은 사람으로 서 있습니다.

묵상 포인트

  • 자신의 연약함과 상처를 하나님께 솔직히 드리고 있는지 돌아봅니다.

6. 구원의 간구

“오 주의 긍휼에 따라 나를 구원하소서.” (26–29절)

다윗의 기도는 자신의 명예가 아니라 하나님의 이름을 위함입니다.

묵상 포인트

  • 우리의 기도도 하나님의 영광과 정의가 드러나는 방향으로 향하고 있는지 점검합니다.

하나님의 명예와 구원의 연결

  • 구약에서 왕과 백성은 하나님을 대표합니다.

  • 다윗이 부당하게 공격받으면 하나님의 이름과 권위가 훼손됩니다.

  • 따라서 다윗이 구원받는 것은 하나님께서 공의로우시다는 것을 세상에 보여주는 사건입니다.

7. 찬양의 확신

“그분께서 가난한 자의 오른쪽에 서사, 그의 혼을 정죄하는 자에게서 그를 구원하시리로다.” (30–31절)

묵상 포인트

  • 하나님은 억울한 자의 곁에 계십니다.

  • 우리는 하나님이 함께 하심을 믿고, 찬양으로 나아갑니다.

결론

시편 109편은 저주의 시가 아니라, 상처 입은 믿음의 고백입니다.
배신과 조롱 속에서도 다윗은 하나님께 입을 열고 기도했습니다.
왕좌는 흔들려도 하나님께 드리는 찬양은 꺼지지 않았습니다.
하나님께 맡긴 분노는 기도로 정화되고, 상처는 예배로 변합니다.

 

 

1. Background of the Psalm

David cried out to God amidst deep betrayal and mockery.
During Absalom’s rebellion or shortly after, his son rebelled, his counselor Ahithophel turned against him, and the people were deceived by Absalom’s lies.
David fled Jerusalem and suffered the humiliation of Shimei’s cursing and stones.

Though the throne was shaken, his worship and praise remained steadfast.

2. Understanding the Curse

Psalm 109 contains strong expressions of curses.

“Let his days be few; and let another take his office.” (v.6 KJV)

Meditation Point

  • David’s curse is not a personal revenge, but an appeal to God’s justice.

  • He did not take vengeance himself, leaving all judgment to God.

  • As Jesus taught, “Love your enemies” (Matt. 5:44), judgment belongs to God, while love is our responsibility.

The curse is a prayer for God’s justice to be revealed.

3. The Cry of a Wounded Heart

David was wounded by betrayal and mockery, even from those he loved.

“They have spoken against me with lying tongues.” (v.2)
“For my love they are my adversaries.” (v.4)
“My heart is wounded within me.” (v.22)
“They shake their heads at me.” (v.25)

Meditation Point

  • David honestly poured out his pain to God.

  • We, too, should learn to cry out to God in times of betrayal and hurt.

4. Trusting God Amid Betrayal

Amid Absalom’s rebellion, Ahithophel’s betrayal, and the people’s deception, David fled while refusing vengeance and entrusting himself to God.

“Let him be cursed that cursed me.” (2 Sam. 16:7)
“Perhaps the LORD will see my affliction, and repay me good for his cursing this day.”

Meditation Point

  • David trusted God’s judgment even when wronged.

  • We should also rely on God in our hardships.

5. Confession of a Wounded Heart

“I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me.” (adapted v.21–25)

Though a strong king, David stands as a wounded person before God.

Meditation Point

  • Reflect on whether we are honestly presenting our weaknesses and wounds to God.

6. Plea for Salvation

“O God, save me according to thy mercy.” (v.26–29)

David prays not for his own honor, but for God’s name.

Meditation Point

  • Our prayers should also seek to glorify God and reveal His justice.

Connection to God’s Glory

  • In the Old Testament, the king and people represent God.

  • If David were unjustly defeated, God’s name and authority would be tarnished.

  • His deliverance demonstrates that God is just to the world.

7. Assurance in Praise

“He shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul.” (v.30–31)

Meditation Point

  • God stands with the afflicted.

  • We can trust His presence and respond in praise.

Conclusion

Psalm 109 is not a psalm of mere curse, but a confession of faith from a wounded heart.
Despite betrayal and mockery, David opened his mouth to God.
Though the throne was shaken, his praise did not cease.
Entrusting anger to God purifies it through prayer; wounds are transformed into worship.
