• 시편 100편은 전통적으로 “감사의 시”(mizmor le-todah) 라고 불립니다.

• 성전 예배에서 감사 제사(Thank offering) 때 불려졌던 찬양으로 알려져 있습니다.

• 단순히 이스라엘만이 아니라 “모든 땅들아” 라는 말로 시작하여, 전 세계를 향한 예배 초청이라는 특징을 가집니다.

시의 구조

1. 예배로 초청 (1–2절)

   • 모든 땅이 기쁨으로 하나님께 환호하고 찬양할 것을 권면.

   • “기쁨으로 섬기며, 노래하면서 나아가라.”

2. 정체성의 확인 (3절)

   • 하나님은 창조주이시며, 우리는 그분의 것.

   • 백성–목자의 관계: 하나님의 보호받는 양.

3. 감사와 찬양의 행위 (4절)

   • 감사와 찬양을 통해 하나님의 임재로 들어감.

창조주 하나님, 만 백성의 목자 

1) 만 백성을 예배로 초대

• “모든 땅들아 {주}께 즐거이 소리칠지어다.”

• 특정 민족을 넘어 전 인류가 창조주 하나님을 찬양해야 함을 선포.

2) 하나님은 창조주

• “그분께서 우리를 만드셨고, 우리는 그분의 것이라.”

• 하나님은 생명의 근원이자 주권자이시며, 인간은 하나님께 속한 존재임을 강조.

3) 하나님은 목자

• “우리는 그분의 풀밭의 양이다.”

• 목자–양의 비유를 통해 보호, 인도, 공급의 관계를 드러냄.

  세부 속성 (5절):

  1. 선하심 (טוֹב, tov): 하나님의 본질적 성품.

  2. 긍휼/인자 (חֶסֶד, hesed): 변치 않는 언약적 사랑.

Background of the Psalm

Psalm 100 is traditionally called “A Psalm of Thanksgiving” (mizmor le-todah).

It was sung during the thank offering in the temple worship.

It begins with the phrase “Make a joyful noise, all ye lands”, showing that it is not only addressed to Israel but is a universal call to worship for all nations.

Structure of the Psalm

Call to Worship (vv. 1–2)

• All the earth is exhorted to shout joyfully and praise the LORD.

• “Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” (KJV v.2)

Recognition of Identity (v. 3)

• God is the Creator, and we belong to Him.

• Relationship of people and shepherd: we are His sheep.

• “Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” (KJV v.3)

Act of Thanksgiving and Praise (v. 4)

• Enter God’s presence with gratitude and praise.

• “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (KJV v.4)

Reason for Worship (v. 5)

• God is good; His mercy and truth endure forever.

• “For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” (KJV v.5)

The God of Israel, the Shepherd of All Nations

1) All Nations Invited to Worship

• “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.” (KJV v.1)

• Beyond Israel, the whole world is called to praise the Creator God.

2) God as the Creator

• “It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves.” (KJV v.3a)

• God is the source of life and sovereignty; humanity belongs to Him.

3) God as the Shepherd

• “We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” (KJV v.3b)

• The shepherd–sheep metaphor shows God’s protection, guidance, and provision.

Attributes in verse 5:

• Goodness (טוֹב, tov): The essential nature of God.

• Mercy / Steadfast Love (חֶסֶד, hesed): God’s unfailing covenant love.
