• 지도자와 백성이 영적 무지와 불의에 빠졌다.
   

• 사회적 불의로 인해 이스라엘의 도덕적, 영적, 사회 질서가 흔들렸다.

4. 하나님의 심판 (시 82:6-8)

“내가 말하기를 너희는 신들이며 다 지존자의 아들들이라 하였으나,
그러나 너희는 사람처럼 죽으며 고관의 하나 같이 넘어지리로다.” (시 82:6-7)

예수님의 인용 (요 10:34-36):
예수께서 대답하여 이르시되
“내가 너희에게 말하였노니 너희가 신들이라 한 그 글이 폐하지 못하였느냐?
성경은 사람에게 말씀하기를 ‘너희는 신들이다’ 하였으니,
하나님의 말씀을 받은 자들에게 이르신 말씀을 누구라 하겠느냐?
또 그가 거룩하신 이들을 ‘하나님의 아들들’이라 칭하였으니,

1. God Judges Among the “gods” (Psalm 82:1)

Text:
“God presides in the great assembly;
he renders judgment among the ‘gods.’”

Meaning:
God is the Judge in the heavenly court.

The “gods” represent earthly judges, leaders, and authorities who serve as God’s delegated rulers.

This depicts God openly judging corrupt leaders.

Application for Today:
All power, believers, and churches are accountable before God.
I must live with the awareness that my life and ministry will be exposed in God’s heavenly court.

Modern Example:
Church leaders, public officials, and businesspeople must maintain transparency before God.

3. Israel’s Failure (Psalm 82:5)

Text:
“They know nothing, they understand nothing.
They walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.”

Meaning:
Leaders and people fell into spiritual ignorance and injustice.

Social injustice destabilized Israel’s moral, spiritual, and social order.

Application for Today:
If individuals and communities fail to practice justice, the entire society will falter.
Moral and spiritual corruption ultimately leads to communal destruction
(e.g., Noah’s Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah).

4. God’s Judgment (Psalm 82:6–8)

Text:
“I said, ‘You are “gods”;
you are all sons of the Most High.’
But you will die like mere mortals;
you will fall like every other ruler.” (Psalm 82:6–7)

Jesus’ Quotation (John 10:34–36):
Jesus said,
“Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods”’?
If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside—
what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world?
Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?” (NIV)

Meaning:
The “gods” are earthly judges and leaders—God’s delegated authorities.

Jesus cited this passage to rebuke the injustice of Jewish leaders and reveal himself as the true Son of God.

Unjust rulers will inevitably face God’s judgment.

Application for Today:
Both leaders and believers must fulfill their responsibilities as God’s stewards.
Corruption and nominal faith cannot escape divine judgment.

Modern Example:
View every office and role as a stewardship from God and fulfill it with integrity.

Through this psalm, I learn that God’s will is for society to be established in justice.
I also see that God watches, rebukes, and judges the leaders he has appointed.
