낙심하고 절망할 때도 있습니다.
이 때, 우리는 다윗의 신앙을 배워야 합니다.

믿음을 가질 수 없는 상황에서 조상에게 응답하신 하나님을 바라보아야 합니다.
회복시키는 하나님을 신뢰해야 합니다.
오늘 우리는 다양한 환경 속에서 다른 고난들에 직면해 있습니다.

Background of the Psalm
This psalm is based on David's personal life experiences, but at the same time, it is also a prophetic psalm about the suffering and restoration of Christ. David experienced suffering and scorn, and this suffering is directly connected to the suffering Christ would endure on the cross. Through this psalm, we can learn how David overcame his suffering.
Content of the Psalm
David’s Suffering and Restoration
- God’s Silence and Plea (Verses 1–2): David cries out in despair.
- God’s Response to the Ancestors (Verses 3–5): David remembers that God had responded to his ancestors and holds onto hope.
- The Scorn and Mockery of the People (Verses 6–8): David was scorned and mocked by people.
- God Who Has Been Trusted Since the Womb (Verses 9–11): David confesses that God had been with him even before he was born.
- The Threats and Suffering from Enemies (Verses 12–21): David experiences death-like suffering due to the threats from his enemies.
- Salvation, Restoration, and Thanksgiving (Verses 22–31): David ultimately experiences God’s salvation and offers praise in the congregation.
Christ’s Suffering and Restoration
- David’s feeling of abandonment in God’s silence (verse 1) connects directly to the words Christ cried out on the cross: “why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me?”

Our Suffering and Restoration
“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them” (P3-4).
Even in the lives of Christians today, there is suffering.
There are days when we must pray in the midst of darkness.
There are times when we feel that God’s answer is delayed.
There are moments when we feel discouraged and in despair.
In those times, we must learn from David’s faith.
We must return to the faith of “But.”
In situations where it seems impossible to have faith, we must look to the God who answered our ancestors.
We must trust in the God who restores.
