시의 내용

1. 축 늘어진 감정 (25절)

“내 영혼이 진토에 붙었나이다.”

히브리어에서 ‘붙었다’(다브카)는 떨어지지 않을 정도로 들러붙은 상태를 의미한다.
시인은 완전히 지쳐 있고, 움직일 힘조차 없는 영적·정서적 바닥에 놓여 있다.
흙(아파르)은 죽음과 무기력의 상징이다.

이 절은 영혼이 바닥에 납작해져 더 이상 일어설 수 없음을 고백하는 마음이다.

핵심 느낌: 바닥에 주저앉아 축 늘어진 상태. 살려 달라고 간신히 호흡하는 기도.

2. 감정의 변곡점 (30절)

“내가 진리의 길을 택하였고, 주의 판단들을 내 앞에 두었나이다.”

여기서 히브리어 ‘나는 택하였다’(바하르티)는 의지적 선택을 나타낸다.
시인은 환경이 바뀌어서 달라진 것이 아니라,
말씀의 길을 의식적으로 선택하면서 감정의 방향이 바뀌기 시작한다.

축 늘어진 상태에서 일어날 수 있는 유일한 힘은 선택이다.
말씀에 대한 결단이 감정의 흐름을 바닥에서 위로 돌려놓는 지점이다.

핵심 느낌: 아직 힘은 없지만, 방향을 잡기 시작한 내적 회복의 순간.

3. 달리는 감정 (32절)

“주께서 내 마음을 넓히시면 내가 주의 명령들의 길로 달려가리이다.”

히브리어 ‘달리다’(아루츠)는 기쁨과 활력이 넘칠 때 사용하는 표현이다.
또한 ‘마음을 넓히신다’(타르히브 리비)는 숨이 트이고 자유를 얻는 회복의 은유이다.

시인의 감정은 무기력에서 벗어나, 이제 하나님의 길을 향해 적극적으로 달려가는 단계에 이른다.
에너지의 근원은 자신의 결심이 아니라 하나님이 마음을 넓혀 주신 은혜이다.

핵심 느낌: 마음이 열리고 힘이 회복되어 앞으로 뛰어가는 상태.

Content of the Psalm

1. The Emotion of Being Cast Down (v. 25)

“My soul cleaveth unto the dust.”

In the Hebrew, cleaveth (דָּבְקָה, dāḇqāh) speaketh of that which clings so tightly that it cannot be loosened.
The psalmist is utterly spent, laid low in a state of spiritual and emotional fainting.
Dust (ʿāpār) is a symbol of death and utter frailty.

This is the confession of a soul fallen flat upon the ground, unable to rise of itself.

Key sense: A life collapsed in weakness, lifting only a faint plea, “Quicken thou me.”

2. The Turning of the Heart (v. 30)

“I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.”

The Hebrew I have chosen (bāḥartî) signifieth a firm and deliberate act of the will.
His circumstances are not changed,
yet his heart begins to turn because he setteth his course by the Word of God.

From such a low estate, the only strength found is the choice itself—
a resolve that begins to lift the soul from the dust.

Key sense: Strength is not yet restored, but the direction of the heart is set aright.

3. The Emotion of Running (v. 32)

“I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.”

The Hebrew I will run (ārûṣ) expresseth joyful vigor and renewed strength.
And thou shalt enlarge my heart (tarchiv libbi) speaketh of a heart set free, widened, and made to breathe again.

The psalmist rises from weariness into active, eager obedience,
not by his own resolve, but by the grace of God enlarging his heart.

Key sense: A heart opened wide, strength restored, running forward in the way of the Lord.
