[웨스트민스터신앙고백 9-3] 구원의 능력을 상실한 인간

타락으로 인한 구원에 이르는 의지와 능력의 상실

Man, by his fall into a state of sin,
사람은 죄의 상태로 떨어짐으로

hath wholly lost all ability of will to any spiritual good accompanying salvation;
구원에 수반되는 어떤 영적인 선을 향한 의지의 능력을 완전히 상실하였다;

 

타락으로 인해 죄로 죽은 인간

so as a natural man, being altogether averse from that good, and dead in sin,
즉, 자연적인 사람은 그 선을 완전히 거부하며 죄 가운데 죽은 상태이다;

 

타락한 인간은 스스로를 구원할 수 없음

is not able, by his own strength, to convert himself, or to prepare himself thereunto.
자신의 힘으로 스스로를 돌이키거나 그를 준비할 능력이 없다.
