[웨스트민스터 신앙고백 1-5 Threefold Evidence that Scripture is the Word of God, 성경이 하나님의 말씀임을 보여주는 세 가지 증거

 

1. Testimony of the Church (교회의 증언)

We may be moved and induced by the testimony of the Church to an high and reverent esteem of the holy Scripture;
우리는 교회의 증언에 의하여 성경을 높이 존중하고 경외심을 품도록 감동되고 이끌릴 수 있다.

2. Inherent Excellence of Scripture (성경 자체의 탁월한 증거)

• "and the heavenliness of the matter,"
  그리고 그 내용의 하늘로부터 온 거룩함

• "the efficacy of the doctrine,"
  교리의 효력

• "the majesty of the style,"
  문체의 위엄

• "the consent of all the parts,"
  모든 부분의 일치

• "the scope of the whole (which is to give all glory to God),"
  전체의 목적(곧 모든 영광을 하나님께 돌리는 것)

• "the full discovery it makes of the only way of man’s salvation,"
  인간 구원의 유일한 길을 완전하게 밝혀 주는 점

• "the many other incomparable excellencies,"
  그 밖의 무수한 비할 데 없는 탁월함

• "and the entire perfection thereof,"
  그리고 그것의 완전무결함은

• "are arguments whereby it doth abundantly evidence itself to be the Word of God;"
  성경 스스로가 하나님의 말씀임을 풍성하게 증거하는 논거들이다.

3. Inward Testimony of the Holy Spirit (성령의 내적 증거)

• "yet, notwithstanding,"
  그러나 그럼에도 불구하고

• "our full persuasion and assurance"
  우리가 갖는 완전한 확신과 신뢰는

• "of the infallible truth and divine authority thereof,"
  그것(성경)의 무오한 진리와 신적 권위에 대한

• "is from the inward work of the Holy Spirit,"
  성령의 내적 역사로부터 비롯되며

• "bearing witness by and with the Word in our hearts."
  우리 마음속에서 말씀과 함께, 그리고 말씀을 통해 증언하시는 역사이다
