1. 인간의 육체와 영혼의 분리
1) 육체
The bodies of men, 인간의 육체는
after death, 죽은 후에
return to dust, and see corruption; 흙으로 돌아가 썪게 된다.
2) 영혼
but their souls (which neither die nor sleep), 그러나 그들의 영혼은 죽거나 잠들지 않고
having an immortal subsistence, immediately return to God who gave them. 그들에게 불멸의 실체를 주신 하나님께로 돌아간다.
2. 의인들의 영혼
The souls of the righteous, 의인의 영혼은
being then made perfect in holiness, 죽는 순간에 거룩하게 되어
are received into the highest heavens, 하나님이 계신 곳으로 들어가
where they behold the face of God in light and glory, 빛과 영광 중에 계시는 하나님을 대면하게 된다.
waiting for the full redemption of their bodies; 그곳에서 몸의 완전한 구원을 기다린다.
3. 악인들의 영혼
and the souls of the wicked 악인의 영혼들은
are cast into hell, 지옥에 던져져서
where they remain in torments and utter darkness, 극심한 고통과 완전한 흑암 속에서
reserved to the judgment of the great day. 마지막 심판을 기다리게 된다.
Besides these two places for souls separated from their bodies, the Scripture acknowledgeth none. 성경은 인간의 영혼이 몸으로부터 분리된 후, 영혼들이 갈 곳에 대해 위의 두 영역 밖에는 없음을 말한다.
