1. 교회가 위정자를 위해 행할 의무들
It is the duty of people to pray for magistrates, 백성들은 위정자들을 위해 기도하고
to honour their persons, 그들의 인격을 존중하고
to pay them tribute or other dues, 세금과 기타 의무를 다해야 합니다.
to obey their lawful commands, 합법적 명령에 순종하고
and to be subject to their authority, 그들의 권위에 복종해야 합니다.
for conscience sake. (이 모든 것은) 성도의 양심에 따라 (행해져야 합니다.)
Infidelity, or difference in religion, doth not make void the magistrates' just and legal authority, (만일) 불신앙이나 혹은 종교가 다르다는 이유로 위정자들의 정당하고 합법적인 권위를 무시해서는 안 됩니다.
nor free the people from their due obedience to them: (또한이런 이유들로) 백성들이 위정자들을 향한 그들의 순종을 거절해서도 안 됩니다.
from which ecclesiastical persons are not exempted, 이런 의무에는 교직자들이라도 예외가 없습니다.
2. 정치와 종교의 분리
much less hath the Pope any power and jurisdiction over them in their dominions, 교황은 위정자들의 통치하는 영토에서 그 어떤 권세나 사법권을 행사할 수 없습니다.
or over any of their people 또는 위정자들이 다스리는 백성들에게도 (그 어떤 권세나 사법권을 행사할 수 없습니다.)
and, least of all, to deprive them of their dominions, or lives, 이에 더해, 그들에게서 그들의 통치권이나 생명을 빼앗을 수도 없는데
if he shall judge them to be heretics, or upon any other pretence whatsoever. 비록 교황이 그들을 이단으로 정죄하거나 혹은 그 어떤 다른 구실을 붙여 (그들에게서 통치권이나 생명을 빼앗을 수도 없습니다.)
