1. 맹세는 쉬운 말로 하라
An oath is to be taken in the plain and common sense of the words, 맹세는 쉽고 상식적인 말로 해야하며
2. 맹세는 분명하게 의사표현 하라
without equivocation, (다른 사람을 혼란을 주기 위해) 두 가지 이상의 다양한 의미를 가진 단어나 구를 의도적으로 선택해 사용하거나
or mental reservation. (자신의 의사를 분명하게 전달할 핵심적인 단어나 구를 말하지 않음으로) 자신의 분명한 의사 표현을 보류하려는 행위를 해서도 안 됩니다.
3. 맹세는 반드시 지켜라
It cannot oblige to sin; 죄를 짓겠다는 맹세는 해서는 안 되지만
but in anything not sinful being taken, 맹세가 죄를 짓는 것과 관련 있는 것이 아니라면
it binds to performance, (그 맹세는) 반드시 지켜져야만 합니다.
although to a man's own hurt; 비록 자신의 마음을 상하게 하는 경우라도
